Featuring a text by Sandra Dyck
This catalogue accompanies Michèle Provost’s installation at CUAG of a “boutique” displaying three product lines (action figures, trading cards, and comic book covers) made in homage to her artist superheroes.
The essay analyzes Provost’s investigation of contemporary consumer society in relation to various contrary spheres: collectibles, advertising, the museum, toys, merchandising and the art world.
Sandra Dyck won a curatorial writing award (major essay category) at the Ontario Association of Art Galleries Awards in Toronto in 2010.
